Landscape Design Vancouver - Garden Design Vancouver

Many of the jobs we do start with a garden design. Depending on the level of detail you are looking for we will work with you to make sure that everything stays within your price range as well as follows the scope of work you were hoping for. Being a Certified Landscape Horticulturist, Brian Ball, owner of Landscaping Vancouver is able to put together a realistic landscape design using his horticultural skills and experience to make sure that everything in the landscape will work and continue to thrive as the landscape ages. Also because he knows material and time costs, he is able to work around a budget set by you.

Below is the process we use for a full scale landscape design:

  1. First meet with you to discuss what you are looking for in a garden: how will the new landscape function, and what aesthetic details are you looking for in a design?
  2. We then measure the site thoroughly to be able to draw up a “base map.” The Base map includes all details currently on site.
  3. From here we would draw a “base sheet.” The base sheet is the form of the rest of the landscape design. It includes only permanent features. Such as property lines or your house if it is going to remain unchanged.
  4. After that comes the “lines of force.” These are based on what kind of shapes and angles you are looking for.  Whether new elements are on square angles, 30 degree angles, 45 degree angles, or curvilinear, this is how we decide.
  5. Now comes a sketch of basic shapes and areas that will be defined on a later drawing. This gets the rough idea in place.
  6. After this we start on the final garden design. A meeting is usually held before just to confirm details and any discrepancies.
  7. Once the final drawing is ready you get a copy that is to scale that is easy to read when entering into the building phase.

As I mentioned above, these steps are not necessary for every drawing. A simpler process may be used based around an idea that a client has. With some drawings the concept is left for us to decide in which case a more detailed approach is needed. These factors will influence the price of the final landscape design.
